NBA trade rumors: Carmelo Anthony won’t waive his no-trade clause for Cavaliers

Stop throwing out that potential Kyrie Irving-for-Carmelo Anthony trade. It is not happening. The idea that Anthony would waive his no-trade clause to go to a Cavs team without Irving and possibly with only one season with LeBron James was absurd already, but the idea has been all but refuted in the last 24 hours.

According to the New York Post, Anthony will waive his no-trade clause only to go to the Rockets:

Wiggins believes he’s worth it and said as much at the adidas Basketball LVL3 event this week. When asked if he was worth the max-level rookie extension that would pay him up to $148 million over five years, he was succinct and to the point.

I definitely do, he said (via SI.com). Nothing less.

Wiggins is currently locked up through the 2018 season but is eligible for a rookie max extension now. The deadline to get the deal done is Oct. 16.

Head coach and president of basketball operations Tom Thibodeau said recently the team is looking to lock up Wiggins, who averaged a career-high 23.6 points in 2016-17 along with 4.0 rebounds and 2.3 assists. He is still just 22.

Wiggins would not talk about trade rumors that linked him to Kyrie Irving and the Cavaliers this week, but was very open about his team’s chances this year.

We have great pieces, we added great pieces, and we have a great coaching staff, he said. I think this year is the year.
